24 kvadrat - the smallest dance venue in Sweden
A real professional dance venue with only 24 squaremeters of stage and 15 seats for the audience, is that a viable concept!? For four years Gun Lund, choregrapher and her life companion Lars Persson, medical doctor and dance producer have run this unique space, presenting carefully chosen programmes every month - bringing international and national guests into the same venue as the most exciting choreographers from the City of Göteborg. Guests from Slovenia, Canada, Poland, Finland, Bulgaria, France, Lithuania, Germany and Russia has appeared in this exclusive environment - including artists as Tommi Kitti, Henrietta Horn, Gregor Kamnikar, Iwona Olszowska, Fabrice Dugied, Roman Rumyantsev.
"Generous, inventive and ingenious", said the former director of Dansens Hus in Stockholm, Mr Jan Zetterberg.
The concept has really knocked the swedish dancecommunity - introducing a new intimate, appealing and challenging way of presenting dance.
The Clone - a full scale, touring copy
Posed with the question of presenting the concept in new places, the Clone was born. Today there is an exact copy - scale 1:1 of the space - touring in Sweden. Communities are given the opportunity to rent or buy their own copy of "24 kvadrat" - a space where dance will be presented in the future.
The space is a piece of Art by itself, an installation or conceptual artwork that goes beyond the danceperformances presented there.
"24 kvadrat is a wonderful idea that arouses the hope that everything is indeed possible. Not only in Göteborg ... The stage may be small but the ambitions are big", wrote Anna Ångström in the leading Swedish National Daily, Svenska Dagbladet.
"One thing is for sure: 24 kvadrat must be experienced. Swedish communities are invited to rent, lease or buy a clone of the Göteborg-original. Will Stockholm be first?", critic Örjan Abrahamsson, in the National Daily, Dagens Nyheter
Internationale tanzmesse nrw in Düsseldorf
16 - 19 we present the Clone for an international audeince at the dance fair in Düsseldorf. This is the first time the copy travells outside of Sweden, but we see no limitation. Easily fitted into a container or a medium sized truck and built up in two days, we can go anywhere. All that's needed is basicly a room - the Clone is not water proof...
